The Instinct Diet?

I read a really interesting article in the June issue of Elle, about the five basic instincts that sabotage our attempts at adhering to weightloss or weight maintainence;

Hunger (we hate feeling it)
Availability (if its there we'll eat it)
Calorie Density (the gorgeous highly sugary calorific cupcake indulgences)
Familiarity (emotional comfort food triggers)
Variety (so spoilt for choice with foods it clouds our good food choice judgements)

The professor made the point that we need to outwit our subconscious urges to control our instinctive food impulses. First step being identifying with food instinct your most susceptible to and dealing with that instinct first. So if your susceptible to a afternoon cupcake binge then Calorie Density could be your downfall so the suggested method of outwitting your sense is to bring into your day to day diet refined highly calorific sweet things like bitter 100% cocoa chocolate and building it into our eating day not as a treat or snack but just before eating a main meal, this will shock the body but gradually your crave sweet things less and less. So basically your retraining your brain by substitution and repetition and in time your re-adapt your instincts so appreciate & want the foods we ought to be eating.

Interesting theory, but will it work....?
